Larissa is a singspiel (literally “sing-play”), a form of German-language music drama, with spoken dialogue and sprechgesang, which is alternated with improvised ensemble pieces & composed songs, that are often strophic and folk-like.
It is about monster murder, love & hate: the young but experienced specialist Larissa killed an annoying monster on behalf of an incredibly wealthy woman called Sema. A professional called Blackdog has helped her and would like to be much closer with Larissa. Together they visit the rich client in her villa in order to collect their fees. It turns out that some songs are not paid and some words, too – especially deadly to those who order them, often too expensive. Three people fight, lie and love each other until they are at peace with themselves. The action takes partly place in the music, from which the villa is built. Larissa is stubborn and brave, insisting that all accounts must be settled, at work and in love. At the end this actually happens.

With the German physicist and physiologist Hermann von Helmholtz (1821-1894) begins the era of sound. In his 1863 published study “Die Lehre von den Tonempfindungen“ (On the Sensations of Tone as a Physiological Basis for the Theory of Music) the scientist writes the first music theory based on physical experiments about the perception of all listenable and opens a door to a new sonic world of acoustic consonance and dissonance, interferences, timbres, tone colours and combination tones. Helmholtz senses: What we are actually listening to is based on illusions, that a forest of fine hairs inside the human ear is whispering to our brain. These synthetic oscillations and physiologist experiments are the starting point for the freakform collective Kammerflimmer Kollektief to play an Improv Noir mixing Indian harmonium drones, crescending sine wave slides, noisy double bass tremolos and dark surf guitar twang.
